First Time Fairs Sparkles Events is pleased to give below a check list for you to look through if it's your first fair, Anyone can contact me with other things to add to the list if you feel their is something else. Please note this is just a guide and not a comprehensive list, but it is hopefully going to help those of you who are attending a fair for the first time (Or to check off before you go to each event) - Stock (Sounds silly, but the number of crafters that forget to put that last case/box in, and it always tends to be the one you need)
- Table cloth - ideally to the floor at the front of a table (A plain double flat sheet will do the trick)
- Business cards and Leaflets (Ideally keep some behind the stand as well to put with each purchase that is made)
- Bags, Tissue paper and bubble wrap if needed
- Lockable cash tin, or money belt with float (Enough change to change up a £20 note for the smallest purchase on your stand)
- Lights and extension leads if electricity is booked, spare bulbs is always handy too
- Note pad and pen/s - to jot down all sales and commissions plus expenses, so you have a clear view of profit/expenses
- Receipt book - Some customers will require a receipt
- Cello tape, blue tack, scissors and spare labels
- Diary - Its always handy to take your diary with you, as other crafters will give you other events and you can then see if you are available
- Check if you need to take tables and chairs
- Try to take a list of all of the events that you are attending with you - Customer may want to visit you else where
- Flask - Saves you having to spend all your profits of drinks
- Lunch - Food can be expensive at events
- Relax, wear a smile and don't keep your head buried in a book, if you can take something with you to make it always helps, Customers like to see you making the items your selling
- Remember this is your 'shop window', dress smartly, be polite and talk to your customers with ease
- If you do forget something, don't panic, it will stick in your mind, and you will remember it next time
- Don't worry about changing your stall around throughout the day, this may make something stand out for the next person.
- Do not under any circumstances pack up before the time given by the organiser, this will annoy both the organiser and other stall holders, plus if something happens you will be liable as the organisers insurance will then be invalid. You can still make a sale up until your table is completely empty.
